“I am free to begin again.” A lovely quote from the lovely artist, Morgan Harper Nichols’s recent Instagram posts. The journal prompt I used this week, over and over, as I process some things that needed space. The reminder I accepted, as I cautiously consider starting anew, as I’ve done with many things, many times.
If you get stuck, get weird.
A piece of advice shared in
‘s 1000 Words of Summer experience (challenge? group? fundraiser!) last month. This specific advice wasn’t directly from Jami, it was shared in one of the daily posts that were part of the experience, helping all of us who write, and/or create in whatever form, try to get out of our own ways. When I read it, my first thought wasn’t of writing an essay, it was of the podcast I started within this Substack space, No One Talks About. It went unexpectedly (by all parties) dormant last summer, after we moved from Colorado to Michigan and began settling into life in Ann Arbor. I didn’t mean for it to stop, but if you’ve ever moved from space to space, let alone state to state, let alone with three young kids, you know.
Here we are. Here I am. Free to begin again*, letting it get weird.
I recorded a re-launch—or maybe we’re just calling it Season 3!—episode on my couch, with my iPhone’s audio app, and we’re starting with that. Because why not!
Listen here, below, or in your feed if you’ve subscribed to the show at any point (in the before times, or now!). Or, skip that part and go straight to the comments. I get that!
*See the P.S. below.
No one is talking about _______.
What is it that you would love to hear a conversation about?
What is it that you would love to have a conversation about?
Leave a comment, tell me things. I’m all ears/eyes. I may open up a hotline or voicemail, but am not doing that right at this moment because it would delay publishing, as many small could-only-take-one-minute-or-five-hours tasks are wont to do for my brain. So for now, just the podcast feed, and the comments. Keeping it simple!
P.S. For a few reasons, there is a possibility that the first few episodes may be for paid subscribers only. I haven’t had paid subscriptions turned on for a long time, but it may feel good to have that little boundary for me. TBD. I’ll keep ya posted.
P.P.S. I updated the colors and logo for the podcast. I’ve used some hue of purple for years, and finally need a break from that!
